From waste heat to business value – three quick questions with Advansor

What happens when you stop viewing cooling and heating as two separate systems? It opens up entirely new opportunities to save energy, recover waste heat and strengthen the bottom line at the same time. Advansor develops cooling and heating solutions using CO₂ as a natural refrigerant, with systems where cooling, heating and heat recovery work together. At Clima Energy Nordic 2027, they are one of the exhibitors demonstrating how technology can be translated into tangible value for properties and operations. We asked Morgan Magnusson, Regional Sales Manager Nordic, three quick questions about future proof investments, the potential of CO₂ and what Advansor wants to contribute on site.

Natural refrigerants and energy efficient systems are becoming increasingly important as properties and businesses work to reduce their climate impact. What questions do you think more people should be asking themselves already today?

– “Are we investing for the future?” Many people focus too much on the installation cost here and now. Instead, they should ask: “Will the refrigerant we choose today still be legal, available and financially viable in five or ten years, considering the stricter F gas regulations and PFAS restrictions?”

“Do we see cooling and heating as two separate systems, or as one integrated whole?” Buying a cooling system from one supplier and a heat pump or district heating from another is often simply a waste of energy. The question should be how much free heat can be recovered from your own cooling process.

“What is the true total cost of ownership, TCO?” Energy prices will continue to fluctuate. The key question is how much energy the system actually consumes over its lifetime, not just what the hardware costs to purchase.

Many property owners and businesses are looking for solutions that both reduce energy use and improve operating economics. Where do you see the greatest potential for CO₂ based cooling and heating solutions?

– The greatest potential by far lies in all in one synergies, meaning combined systems where cooling, freezing, air conditioning and heating are integrated into a single CO₂ system. By eliminating traditional boilers and electric heaters, properties can become completely fossil free.

Another major opportunity is 100 percent waste heat recovery. CO₂ is an excellent refrigerant for heat recovery because it can deliver very high temperatures, up to 95°C, without losing efficiency. Recovering the waste heat generated by the cooling process and sending it directly into the property’s heating system or domestic hot water system can generate enormous savings.

At Clima Energy Nordic, technology, sustainability and economics come together. What do you want to contribute to the discussions on site, and which stakeholders are you looking forward to meeting?

– We want to show that environmental sustainability and strong operating economics are not opposites, they go hand in hand. We are bringing concrete Nordic cases that prove the transition to natural refrigerants is profitable.

We look forward to meeting forward thinking property owners, consultants, energy strategists and installers who want to take the next step in the energy transition. We want to talk to those who are willing to think in circular flows and challenge old technical assumptions.

Thank you Morgan, see you in February!
